VoiceLab
VOICELAB is an initiative in which makers from different disciplines (dance, music, sound mastering, writing, theater) gather to explore the intertwining possibilities of performance and voice/sound. Together they create a convergence of ideas, resources and facilities. Voicelab is a moment of exchange on the intersection point of individual trajectories, joining for a brief but intense period of working, learning, practicing, which may fire back into the respective processes and productions. The contours of Voicelab are curated by Myriam Van Imschoot and Alex Roccoli, its inner workings will rely on self-organisation and initiatives further re- and defined by the group of participants.
VOICELAB is taking place from 12 to 17 April 2010. In the mornings teachers Ivo Dimchev (13, 14 and 15) and Eurike De Beul (16 April) will initiate experience based explorations, tasks, exercises or assignments. Artist talks/presentations are planned in the course of the day. On 13 April David Zerbib gives an open 'animated lecture' on 'The World as Instrument' in Beursschouwburg at 20:30. All of this is meant to inspire a series of experimentation or 'derivations' (translations of input into the practical, the experimental, short presentations). Voicelab concludes on Saturday 17 April with a public talk/showing.
Participants: Lilia Mestre, Mette Edvardsen, Christine De Smedt, Myriam Van Imschoot, Alex Roccoli, David Zerbib, Vincent Dunoyer.
With special thanks to Jo Huybrechts for presenting the video work: 'Oh No'.
VOICELAB is supported by Sarma, WorkSpaceBrussels, Kaaistudio's, Beursschouwburg and VGC.
